Integrated Pest Management is the crux of food safety programme which ensures pesticide residue free product. ITC aims to incorporate physical and cultural interventions in its programme to reduce agrochemical consumption and also establish local ETL to optimize pesticide usage and improve farmer profitability.
Conventional Integrated Pest Management Programme is aimed at managing pest post attacks. At ITC, we promote a preventive approach for pest management and the R&D team has designed crop specific biological input kit, suiting local agro-climatic conditions, which improves the immunity of crop and reduces pest attack incidences.
At ITC we recognize the importance of managing pesticides and toxic wastes generated in the process. Besides farm safety initiatives and farmer awareness we believe in responsible management of containers and toxic waste water generated throughout the crop cycle. Toxic containers are collected, temporarily stored and incinerated at certified establishments while toxic waste water is managed through use of soak pits, indigenously designed to meet requirements.
